The device employs a 17-LED matrix that alternates between red-orange and cyan wavelengths to enhance visibility against varied backgrounds.

Structurally, the EDF2 is designed for durability in marine environments: it is IP67 waterproof, inherently buoyant, and self-rights when deployed. The unit operates continuously for at least 3 hours at ≥50 candela average effective intensity.
